New Mobile TV Services Offered at the Opening of Ideapark
Icareus together with its partners piloted local mobile TV at the opening of the Ideapark shopping center in Lempäälä, Finland 29.11 - 1.12.2006. During the event, mobile TV and other mobile services were offered to the DVB-H receivers in the area.

DINA IST Mobile DVB-H project implemented in cooperation with the Finnish Mobile TV project arouses wide interest at IST 2006 event
At the IST 2006 event held on 21—23.11.2006 in Helsinki, Arcada Polytechnic presented new and unique programme formats for mobile television. Cooperating with FVH’s Finnish Mobile TV project and Elisa, Arcada carried through an experimental broadcast produced especially for mobile television.

Digita and SBS Finland strike a deal on commercial DVB-H mobile television network service
SBS Finland Oy and the leading Finnish radio and TV service distributor Digita Oy have signed a deal on the first commercial service in the DVB-H based mobile Tv network. Mobile television combines the services of two separate networks, the DVB-H based TV network and the mobile network, in the same user terminal. Mobile TV thus enables the provision of interactive services from the very beginning.

Two events on 23 November in co-operation with Forum Virium Helsinki
The morning session, at 11am-12.30pm, "Mobile TV - the challenges for live interactive multimedia services" will focus on lessons to be learned from the mobile television trials. The workshop session will be held in conjunction with the IST 2006 Event in Helsinki on 23 November.
The afternoon session from 2pm onwards "Future perspectives of mobile multimedia content" will focus in mobile lifestyle, cross media and mobile TV services. 4x15min active demo sessions conclude the day.
The venue is the cultural complex Andorra, a former movie theatre in the city centre of Helsinki.

Interactive Mobile TV Piloted at i2010 Conference
The second pilot of Icareus’ mobile TV project took place at the i2010 conference held in Espoo, Finland on 28th September. The purpose of the pilot was to develop, implement and test different kinds of services targeted to international conference guests. The piloted package contained services linked to both the conference and the Otaniemi area.

Consumers also want to watch TV programs on their mobile
Results announced today from one of the world’s first commercial mobile TV pilots in Helsinki, Finland reveal the popularity and willingness to pay for mobile TV services, underlining the potential of this exciting new mobile application. 41% of pilot participants would be willing to purchase mobile TV services and half thought that a fixed monthly fee of 10 euros was a reasonable price to pay. Over half (58%) said that they believed broadcast mobile TV services would be popular.

Live Mobile TV broadcasts for the first time at an international sporting event
The first results from the Finnish Mobile TV pilot positive
Mobile TV broadcasts continue in August at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki, where the guests of the companies behind the Finnish Mobile TV project will be able to use mobile TV for the first time at an international sporting event. YLE (The Finnish Broadcasting Company) will be providing mobile TV users with a multi-channel package, including a domestic broadcast of the Championships, which includes both YLE TV1 and YLE TV2’s coverage of the Championships. In addition, mobile TV users will receive the compilation broadcast for international distribution and five special Championships broadcasts of individual events (running events, field events, race walking and the marathon). Each event can thus be followed without a break from start to finish.

Mobile TV pilot begins in Finland

On 8 March 2005, Digita, Elisa, MTV, Nelonen, Nokia, Sonera and YLE (The Finnish Broadcasting Company) are starting an unique mobile TV pilot in Finland. The project tests mobile TV services and consumer experiences, as well as the underlying technology, with 500 users in the Helsinki capital region.
