Icareus and Cooperating Parties Pilot Interactive MobileTV

Icareus together with the University of Turku, partnering companies and local content producers are about to launch a completely new MobileTV project that takes live event experience to another level.

The purpose of the project is to investigate how DVB-H and mobile networks can be used in an efficient and user friendly manner to offer broadcast mobile TV services, on-demand services and different kind of interactive services. The system developed and relating service concepts will be tested during the summer and the following autumn in different public events around Finland, the first one being one of the biggest music festivals in Finland, Ilosaarirock, 14-16 July. The services will be delivered through the 3G cellular network and a local DVB-H network that will be set-up for each event. The administration of the services of the events will take place through a service management system designed and developed specifically for the project. The project is first of its kind when it comes to versatility of services and public testing. Project partners: Icareus, University of Turku, TeliaSonera Finland, Digita, ICT-Turku, Tietokartano and Axel Technologies. Interactive Mobile TV is one of the Finnish Mobile TV projects.
